I have been looking around online, trying to find a chart that shows the distribution of body fat percentage in American males. I don’t seem to be able to find one. I want to know what percentile a male with around 10% body fat would be in.

I thought that 17% – 19% was average in males, whereas 20-24% was average in females? At least, that is what is healthy and recommended? Why don’t you do a search for BMI statistics?

With american males getting fatter by the day, was is average and what is recommended are getting farther and farther apart.

A man should be between 10 to 20%, depending on age.

    Body Fat Percentages for Males:

    Essential Body fat: 2%-4%
    Body Builders/Athletes: 5%-10%
    Average Healthy Male: 11%-19%
    Borderline: 20%-22%
    Overfat: 23% plus
    Obese: 30% plus

In the US, the average body fat percentage in males is about 25%. At 10% body fat, this would be very low in comparison to the majority of males in the US, but obviously the average male in the US is overfat.

    HTH : )
