I’ve lost inches off my hips. I’ve also lost weight. When I put the measurement in the Body Fat Percentage calculator though , for some reason my body fat percentage is higher than what it used to be.

Is that supposed to happen?
Or is the calculator screwed up?

What is the ideal body fat percentage?

August 25, 2011 by

My body fat is 16.2%. I am 16, female, around 5’9″ and weigh 123.6lbs. I’ve looked for body fat charts on the internet and everyone is different. Some say that under 20% is underfat and others say that 16% is ideal. Other charts are shockingly low and say ideal body fat is 12-14%. I am pretty athletic if that changes a lot.
I am just kinda worried because I’m a bit underweight and having trouble gaining weight and I don’t want to like lose my period and get myself into future trouble.

Is there a way to test your body fat percentage at home without using those “online body fat tests”?

August 10, 2011 by

All of those body fat tests online never take your muscle size into account. You just measure your sizes, when realistically, the size makes no difference, because it could be pure muscle. I’m pretty muscular, but I do have some fat to spare. I want to know how much to see how much I should lose, but I can’t measure it by weight because when I lose fat, I gain weight from muscle.
